David Cyr Statements to the New Brunswick Commission on Hydraulic Fracturing

November 2015

The earth has a lot of water, and at first glance one would think we had an over abundance of it. Fact is that less than 1% is drinkable. Something to consider as the activities that surround the actual process of hydrofracturing involves the use of not just any water but the drinking kind.

The human body is made up of more than 50% water.

The quality of water is important because not only does it have a connection with us humans; it connects to every living thing which is a part of the food chain. Water cycles into the atmosphere and takes many forms including rain which provides moisture for crops and wild plant life which in turn provides food.

More importantly water is consumed directly by drinking it. Drinking water is vital because of the point mentioned earlier: “The human body is made up of more than 50% water.”
