Benton County residents concerned about road washing out during flooding

SHADY GROVE SAY THEY WORRY EVERY
TIME IT RAINS LAST SUNDAY MANY
OF THEM HAD FLOODING ALMOST UP
TO THEIR DOORSTEP AND THIS ROAD
WAS NEARLY WASHED OUT MAKING IT
DIFFICULT TO DRIVE IN AND OUT THE STRESSES THERE. YEAH. THIS
IS OUR ONLY ONLY WAY IN AND OUT
FAMILY. AND SHADY GROVE DEAL
WITH FLOODING OFTEN WATER SOAKS
THEIR FRONT YARDS SEEPS INTO
THEIR HOMES AND WASHES AWAY PARTS OF THEIR ROAD. NOT JUST
FLOODING. IT’S ANY TYPE OF RAIN,
IT WASHES OUR DRIVEWAY OUT WAS
ALL UP UNDERNEATH THE CAR COURT. IT WAS ABOVE MY ANKLES. IT WAS
ALL THE WAY DOWN MY DRIVEWAY
KATHY BEACH SAYS THEIR MAIN
STRUGGLE WHEN IT RAINS IS THE
ROAD. IT’S DIRT AND GRAVEL AND
OFTEN GETS WASHED OUT BEACH SAYS THAT THE GRAVEL EXCEPT THE
TEMPORARY CULVERTS AND PREVENTS
WATER FROM DRAINING PROPERLY. THE WATER WAS LIKE PACKED UP
THERE TO WHERE IT WAS
OVERFLOWING INTO THE WHEAT FIELD
RIGHT NEXT TO ME AND ALL THE
DIRT THAT THEY HAD BEEN DUMPING
HER. THE FIELD RIGHT NEXT TO MY HOUSE INTO AN ORANGE RIVER THE
SUPERINTENDENT FOR THE BENTON
COUNTY ROAD DEPARTMENT SAYS THAT
CREWS HAVE BEEN WORKING ON SHADY
GROVE TRYING TO PACK IN MORE
DIRT TO BUILD UP THE ROAD. SO WHAT WE’RE PLANNING ON DOING IS
WIDENING THE ROAD OUT AND DOING
DRAINAGE WORK. HOPEFULLY TAKE
CARE OF SOME OF THE ISSUES THAT
THEY’RE HAVING OUT THERE BY
WIDEN AND STRAIGHTEN THE DRAINAGE UP ON THAT GROWTH, BUT
HE SAYS THE UNEXPECTED FLOODING
ON SUNDA HAS SET THEM BACK. WE
ARE GOING YOU GET BACK TO IT
ROAD CREWS FROM BENTON COUNTY
WERE OUT HERE TRYING TO PATCH UP CERTAIN SPOTS TO HELP DRIVERS,
BUT PEOPLE WHO LIVE HERE SAY
THEY HAVE TO STAY PREPARED
