A trip to Trinidad and Tobago is never complete unless you experience a true Trinbagonian river lime. A river lime is a gathering of family and friends and it usually involves cooking on the river banks. Usually, dishes such as curried duck or any curried meats gillabat rice, provisions, pelau and fish broth are cooked. These are the more popular dishes but anything you bubble on a fireside on the river bank will be extremely mouthwatering. There’s just something about cooking by the river. The peacefulness The sound of the water against the rocks And that refreshing river air! Trinbagonians love to call in sick or “break biche” on a Monday, and head to Caura. The song “Monday” by Ravi B and Rakesh Yankaran was made specifically for Mondays in Caura River. Although we’re here on a Friday, here’s a taste of a true Trinbagonian river lime!
