Church looking for new place for service after weekend storms


YEAR OF HOLDING SERVICES IN A GARAGE –THE FOLSOMVILLE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH CONGRIGATION HAD NO WHERE TO GO FOR SERVICE THIS MORNING. EARLIER TONIGHT — WE TOLD YOU ABOUT THE FIRE THAT LEFT THEM WITHOUT WORSHIP SPACE. NOW — STORM DAMAGE HAS LEFT THEM IN THE SAME BOAT AGAIN. EYEWITNESS NEWS’ MIRANDA MEISTER HAS THE STORY. “A CONGREGATION IS CLEANING-UP– ONCE AGAIN– AFTER THEIR CHURCH HAS BEEN DESTORYED. (BOB POLAND. CHAIRMAN OF CHURCH BOARD) “Closed it up, everyone left and I got a call about 4 o’clock from the neighbor across the street and my wife saying that the church was on fire ” THE FOLSOMVILLE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH LOST THEIR ORIGINAL BUILDING TO A FIRE IN DECEMBER 20-18. THE SAME DAY AS THEIR CHRISTMAS SERVICE. BUT THEY FOUND A PLACE TO WORSHIP BACK THEN. (BOB POLAND. CHAIRMAN OF CHURCH BOARD) “We ended up here the week after the fire.” BOB POLAND OPENED UP HIS OWN SPACE. LETTING HIS CHURCH FAMILY GATHER IN IS GARAGE EVERY WEEK. (BOB POLAND. CHAIRMAN OF CHURCH BOARD) “I knew that we needed a place to hold the congregation together” NOW– ALMOST A YEAR LATER– A STORM WITH STRONG WINDS PUT THEM BACK IN THE SAME POSITION AS LAST DECEMBER. (Will trillich, member) “And now with the tree falling on our back of church here, it makes it Very difficult for us to fine somewhere to meet and do our thing every Sunday ” THEY SAY IT’E BEEN A TRYING YEAR FOR THEM. AND SINCE THE STORM DAMAGE HAS HAPPENED…THERE’ S BEEN NO TIME TO THINK OF WHAT COMES NEXT. (Will trillich. member) We don’t really know what kind of backup plan we’ve got. We’ve got several members offering their barns for us to meet in. I think we will, we will survive. AND SURVIVING IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY PLAN TO DO. BECAUSE THEY HAVE EACH OTHER. (BOB POLAND.
