Dam of BC-Bound Sweet Melania, In Foal to Liam’s Map

Hi, Lucas Marquardt with the Thoroughbred
Daily News. Lane’s End is set for a big Breeders’
Cup weekend, one potential highlight is the Grade Two Jessamine Stakes winner Sweet Melania
who goes in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. Lane’s End offered her dam, the well-related
Sweet N Discreet, at Fasig-Tipton’s Night of the Stars and we talked to the consignment’s
Aliare Ryan. Sweet N Discreet was a $1.1 million broodmare
prospect purchase. She’s of course one of the great Robsham Stables
families and herself also a beautiful physical. She has size, she had substance and a very
attractive profile overall. So from a commercial breeding standpoint,
she’s the whole package. Sweet Melania is the recent grade two winner
of the Jessamine Stakes at Keeneland. She is Breeders’ Cup bound to be in the
Juvenile Fillies Turf Race. She was a $600,000 yearling purchase, which
certainly got her dam Sweet N Discreet off to a good start as both a commercial and racing
producer. She’s offered in foal to Liam’s Map who is
off to an outstanding start with his first crop of two-year-olds on the track. He’s already got two Grade One winners. Liam’s Map is really- he’s gotten off
to a dream start for any stallion to have two Grade One winners, a colt and a filly,
in your first crop. A Breeders’ Cup starter and a potential
two-year-old champion filly. Very very exciting for him and we anticipate him
having a super year and next year as well because they really look like they want to
go two-turns and they have a lot of speed but they also want to go two-turns. There’s potential for two significant updates
with regards to this mare. Of course, Sweet Melania is headed to the
Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, and Liam’s Map will also be represented by Wicked Whisper
in the Breeder’s Cup Juvenile Fillies.
