Flood warnings issued for parts of the Carolinas, Ga.


STORMS WITH US THROUGH THE EVENING WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE 60s AND 70S.>RIGHT NOW WE HAVE TEAM COVERAGE ON FLOODING ACROSS THE UPSTATE AND INTO WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA. IN HENDERSONVILLE, PEOPLE ARE DEALING WITH HEAVY FLOOD WATERS. TO THE SOUTH, A MASSIVE SINKHOLE THAT OPENED UP ON THE ROAD BECAUSE OF THE WEATHER THREATENING DOZENS OF HOMES. EVEN IN THE MAIN — RAIN MAY HAVE STOPPED, THE THREAT IS NOT OVER. WE ARE EXPECTING RAIN FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. FLOOD CONCERNS ARE ON THE TOP OF EVERYBODY’S MIND. Reporter: THE SUN IS SHINING BUT THE RAIN THAT FELL 4 HOURS EARLIER LEFT QUITE A MESS. WHAT I AM STANDING IN IS A FLOODED PARKING LOT BUT THE ROADS ACROSS HENDERSONVILLE AND THE COUNTY LOOK LIKE THIS. MAIN STREET IS FLOODED. THEY HAVE NOT BLOCKED THAT OUT BECAUSE IT IS ONLY AN INCH OR TWO. EVEN THAT CAR, YOU CAN SEE HOW MUCH RAIN WATER IS BACKING UP WERE GETTING UP. I WANT TO TAKE YOU OVER HERE. IN ABOUT AN HOUR, THIS IS HOW MUCH THE WATER HAS RECEDED. THE FLOODWATERS ARE COMING DOWN BUT THEY ARE COMING DOWN SLOWLY. I WANT TO SHOW YOU HOW BAD THE FLOODWATERS GOT. WE DID NOT SEE ANY DRIVERS GET STUCK WHEN THEY WERE DRIVING THROUGH BUT WE HAVE SEEN A LOT OF ABANDONED CARS. THE CAR IS NOT THE ONLY ABANDONED ONE IN THE PARKING LOT. WE ARE GOING TO TAKE YOU TO THE END OF THE PARKING LOT. YOU CAN SEE THE WHITE TRUCK. WE WERE ABLE TO TALK TO THE DRIVER WHO TOLD US THAT HE CAME US BEFORE 9 AM THIS MORNING. HE SAID IT WAS RAINING BUT THE WATER WAS NOT THAT HIGH. HE PARKED HIS CAR AT FIVE FROM WHERE IT IS SITTING NOW. THAT WAS DRY LAND WHEN HE PARKED HOURS AGO. HE CAME BACK IN HIS CAR WAS ALSO UNDERWATER. TICKET LOOK AT WHAT HE HAD TO — TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT HE HAD TO SAY. I AM NOT GOING TO TRY AND START IT. I WILL LET THE WATER GO AWAY AND DRAIN OUT. YOU CAN SEE THERE IS BARRIERS PUT UP. FIREFIGHTERS WILL KEEP THEM THERE UNTIL THE RAIN STOPS. THEY COULD BE THERE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. LIVE IN HENDERSONVILLE, I’M ERYN ROGERS. THE FIRE CHIEF SAID IT CAUSED DOWN TREES AND WATER ON THE ROADS. SOME RIVERS HAVE RUN OVER THEIR BANKS BUT THE RAIN IN THE FORECAST FOR THE WEEK AND IT IS ONLY THE BEGINNING. IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE. YOU ARE PROBABLY GOING TO SEE HIGHER FLOODING AND ROADS BEGINNING TO WASH OUT AND POSSIBLY MUD SLIDES, ESPECIALLY IN THE MOUNTAINOUS AREAS. BECAUSE THE SUN OUT — IS OUT IN THESE PICTURES DOES NOT MEAN THE THREAT HAS PASSED. DRIVERS NEED TO USE CAUTION AND DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH THE RUSHING WATER. COVERAGE CONTINUING INTO THE STATE OF GEORGIA IN STEVENS COUNTY WERE A SINKHOLE IS CUTTING OFF THE MAIN ROADWAY INVOLVING DOZENS OF HOMES IMPACTED BY THE PROBLEM. WITH MORE RAIN IN THE FORECAST, THAT COULD TAKE SEVERAL DAYS AND MORE DAYS TO DO THE REPAIRS. IN THE MEANTIME, DOZENS OF RESIDENTS ARE HAVING TO USE THE DRIVEWAY THROUGH A PRIVATE HOME OR PRIVATE PROPERTY TO GET OUT OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD REPORTING LIVE, 7 NEWS.>THEY ARE FORTUNATE TO HAVE THAT BACK WAY IN AND OUT OR THAT WOULD BE A MESS.
