Flood waters interrupt Meals on Wheels in Lenoir County


FLOODING ISN’T ONLY AN ISSUE FOR HOMEOWNERS AND BUSINESS OWNERS.. BUT ALSO THE COUNCIL ON AGING.. LENOIR COUNTY MEALS ON WHEELS VOLUNTEERS ARE HAVING A DIFFICULT TIME GETTING TO HOMES.. JUST THE OTHER DAY..THE EMERGENCY SERVICES TEAM HELPED THE VOLUNTEERS DELIVER FROZEN MEALS. DIRECTOR BETSY GRIFFIN SAYS RIGHT NOW .. THEY CANT GET TO HOMES IN PINK HILL. ” IT’S FRUSTRATING BECAUSE THESE ARE PEOPLE THAT ARE MOSTLY HOME BOUND AND WE REALLY DO WANT TO MAKE SURE THEY GOT WHAT THEY NEED ” GRIFFIN SAYS VOLUNTEERS CALL ALL THE PEOPLE THEY SERVE EVERYDAY.. SHE HOPES TO GET THE SERVICE BACK TO NORMAL BY NEXT WEEK.
