Group steps up to help flood victims


HUNDREDS OF FAMILIES ARE TRYING TO GET BACK ON THEIR FEET AFTER HURRICANE MATTHEW. ORGANIZATIONS LIKE FEMA AND THE RED CROSS ARE HELPING FOLKS WHERE THEY CAN BUT IN SOME CASES MORE ASSISTANCE IS NEEDED. IT’S LIKE REBUILDING A WHOLE HOUSE. Reporter: JANET’S HOME WAS FLOODED BY 4 FEET OF WATER FROM HURRICANE MATTHEW. MOST OF HER POSSESSIONS ARE DESTROYED. COMING OUT IN PIECES. WHEN IT’S CRUMBLING IN YOUR HANDS. Reporter: SHE AND NEARLY 400 OTHER HOMEOWNERS HERE AT A LOSS. I’M A RETIREE, NO PENSION. I DON’T HAVE MONEY TO REBUILD. I’VE JUST GOT TO GO FROM DAY-TO- DAY. WE ARE KIND OF THE WRECK IT RALPH. WE TAKE IT APART SO THEY CAN DRY IT OUT. THEN THEY FIND PEOPLE TO PUT IT BACK TOGETHER.
