Honda CR-V LED Headlights & Fog lights How To Install – 4th Generation | 2012 – 2016

What’s happening everyone my name is
Phil with PrecisionLED.com and today we have a 2016 Honda CR-V we’ll be
installing LED fog lights as well as headlights on. Now this installation is compatible with
year models 2012 through 2016. That is the fourth generation. And we’ll be using kits from
PrecisionLED.com We have an H11 premium CREE lighting
system here for our low beam. And an H8 style kit here for our fog lights. You can check the description link below
to get product links on PrecisionLED.com Let’s go ahead and get started. For our low-beam headlights, we’re looking here at the passenger side. And the bulb right here, this one is our low beam headlight
assembly. Now we’re gonna take a look at first the LED system. It’s a two-part system and you have a power connector here from the ballast to the bulb. You want to go ahead
and plug these together. And this has a rubber o-ring to prevent any water
damage. You want to make sure that seal is tight. And then you screw the cap over for additional protection. Now that that’s ready to go, we’ll put that aside. To remove this bulb, you want to first remove the connector. You wanna push down here with your thumb and pull down. That releases the power connector. Turn this one counterclockwise to unlock it. And remove the old H11 halogen bulb. The new LED bulb is a direct replacement. So that one
fits right in. Turn that one clockwise and that locks it in place. Now this one has a motorized heatsink, so it’s actively pushing air to keep the LED bulb at the
right temperature. Now you can connect your power wire. As
you can see on this connector, the female side there’s a clamp right here. That goes on the top side where you used your thumb to put pressure and that one locks in place. So right now before we go any further let’s go ahead and test the light to make sure it turns on. Leave that one on and we’ll just show you here. Bulb turns on. Alright, you can turn that off. And now, you want to prepare our surface where we’re gonna mount our ballast. Now there’s a section right here. It’s
perfectly fit and sized right here for it. So we’re going to mount it here using some 3M double-sided tape that comes with your kit. Now to prepare the surface you do want to clean this off. Just some
degreaser and a cloth should do the trick. Just wipe that section down. Now you’re gonna use the 3M mounting pads that came in your kit. Take one side here, apply it to the ballast. Make sure you tighten that down and just
apply pressure so you get good adhesion. And then remove the back side here. And you’re going to put this in place right here. Push that down. Alright, and this side’s all set. The process is the same on the driver side. We’re looking now at the passenger side fog light. And we’re gonna be using one of our trim
tools here. This is a fork-shaped wedge tool. And this will be helping us remove the front panel here to access the bulb. This entire assembly pops out. As well as
the light assembly, that one comes out as well. What you need to do is you need to
insert here from the side. And there’s a series of tabs that are holding this in
place. You need to release all of them. So come in from the top. Once you find a tab. Here we go, that’s the first one here. There’s one right here. That one’s out. And as you can see, what I’m doing is I’m
coming in to the side and then forcing up to get the bumper to unclip. There’s
another one here. There we go. And there’s another one here. Alright. There’s a series of them on
the bottom as well. Got one down here. These ones you’re lifting up. Do we have one more? There we go, that one’s out. And now this one turns and pops out Now you need a Phillips-head screwdriver. There’s a bolt right here. And once you unscrew this there’s a clip down here below. You need
to … save that bolt. You need to push down and then pull out. And that removes the
whole assembly. Now you have access to the back side here where your fog light is. So, remove the power connector. Turn this one counterclockwise to unlock it. And now we have our old H8 halogen bulb removed. Now, the new LED bulb is a two-part system. So you want to make sure that the water seal here is screwed on. And there’s a rubber o-ring in there to
help waterproof the connection. And then you
might as well go ahead and connect power here. There’s a clip on only one side of our
female connector here. And that goes over the top. Locks in place. Now the bulb, is a direct replacement of your old halogen bulb. Then you lock it in place. Alright. Now what we’re going to do next is we’re
going to mount the ballast here on the interior. And we’re going to put it right
here against this surface. So a rag and some degreaser. And just prep the surface. We’re going to use the 3M mounting tape
that was included in your kit. Alright, we’re gonna mount one side here. And now this is going to mount right here. Ok. Actually, we’ll flip it around just for the wire management. And that sits nice and snug. Now what you need to do here, let me flip it back around. This side, this tab goes in first at an angle. Remember you have to start down. Make
sure this locks into place right here and then you can screw that in. And right now we’ll go ahead and test
the lights to make sure they work before we finish up the assembly. There we go. Light looks really good. We can go ahead and turn those off. Finish screwing this into place and lock it in. Alright, now while we have this open
you can see right here this is your height adjustment screw that changes the
angle of the fog light. So if you’re looking to adjust just do it from right here. Use a
Phillips head screwdriver you’ll be turning it left or right to
twist this entire assembly and that lifts the bulb up or down, or rather, lifts
the whole assembly up and down. Alright. Now to put this piece back in, you want
to start from the far side again. And each of these tabs, you want to make
sure if you’re looking at this front one here. You want to make sure it’s going through
the slit right here for it to lock in place. If you go under it it’s not actually gonna hook on to anything and it won’t be a secure connection. Ok. There we go. And force it in. And there you go. It’s all set. Just want to show real quick, we’re going to turn the vehicle on. Now we have LEDs on our interior and we
also have LED headlights and fog lights. And as you can see here, there are no engine or no vehicle
warning codes letting you know that the lighting installation was a success. And that’s the end of the installation. If you have any questions or concerns please email us at [email protected] or you can reach us online and

  1. Will you be able to do an instillation demonstration on the Honda Pilot 2016?

  2. In your website when I type my 2013 crv, it does not show anything but interior LEDs. And the crv in this video has different bulbs than my 2013 ( I also own a 2010 crv) crv , my car has clips and the bulb noes not twist in. Is the crv in this video a touring model?? Because they have different headlights than the other cars.

  3. Do you have an installation video for DLR's LEDS for 2012 HONDA CRV 4th generation (before facelift)?

  4. I have a 2012 Honda CRV and it uses the H4 bulb High & Low beam in One bulb This car has the poorest head lights of ANY car I have ever owned. Still looking for a solution

  5. @Chris Mork- Thank you for your interest. We do indeed have a kit for your vehicle, which you can find here: http://www.precisionled.com/premium-h4-cree-hl-gl-headlight-led.html

This package will increase your nighttime driving visibility by 2-3 times. Also, as you can see in the video, our LEDs are simple plug-and-play products, so the installation process should be a breeze. Feel free to ask if you have any additional questions.

  6. how do they differ from hids? I've been deciding to switch to leds but people say its not as bright? I currently have 6k hids on my crv

  7. 2015 Honda CRV, can i use a set of LED high beam and will it affect the drl lights?

  8. Hi, do your kits need additional anti flicker modules? We have daytime running lights in Canada. thanks.

  9. the link says it's 35w bulbs but crv head h11 55w right? will that be ok?

  10. +PrecisionLED In the link for both Heads and Fogs, you show two different links but they both lead to the same product. I noticed the asterisk which then says they are both 'interchangeable' but in the video you shoe two different types. If what you say about interchangeability is true, then why are you using different types (judging by the gray color ballast for Heads, and Black for Fogs!), in the video? BTW: My vehicle is a 2016 CR-V EX-L 😉

  11. so the H8 and H11 is pretty much the same product then if they are interchangeable right? So out of the two which one is better? or could I use the H11 for the fogs aswell?

  12. Can you link which kit should be purchased for a 2015 CRV? Very interested! Thank you!

  13. I want to buy the h8 fog lights you showed in this video, when you will have them available??

  14. Hello , i bought H11 LED type for my crv 2015 low beam tested it and i noticed front passing vehicles always giving me a signal it looks like im on a high beam ? I made some research about the issue , i found out the projector type housing of my headlight is not fit for an LED bulb type. Is it true?

  15. I bought 80W 7200LM 12-24V Auxbeam H11 type . I dont know if the wattage was higher than the required out of my vehicle. What will be the right wattage ? Are you selling the right wattage for the low beam? Or is it really the projector type headlight housing .

  16. 2014 CRV. 9003(H4) for the high/lows and H11 for the fogs right? I only have one set of bulbs Thst are my highs/lows. They are not separate and they have reflective housing. Not projector.

  17. I did similar upgrades to the fog lights to my CRV 2014 model year European model. Low beams came with HID from the factory . The fog lights can be accessed from beneath the car. Just release the plastic guard and you can see the back of the fog light assembly. The space is tighter but it's an option if you don't have those special fork tools.

  18. I own a 2012 CR-V ex-l and my bulbs are listed as 9003/h4 yet you used an H11 styled led. Would this be the same case for what I would have to do in my vehicle? If so what is the difference?

  19. Great video. Can you make a video for the 2017 Honda CRV headlight upgrade to led? All trim models from LX to EX-L
    Come with halogen lights. Sadly…

  20. 2015 Crv Ex could you do a video on the Hi Beams?
And what bulbs should I buy for the hi beams? Thanks Ryan

  21. I upgraded mine using a different brand and the fans in the lights were so loud and howled like crazy. Not sure I want to try ones with another fan.

  22. I also have another question is okay in stock housing like not blinding other drivers and it doesn't need adjusting right.

  23. How much would dealership charge about do you think to install these items.

  24. Do you have any headlight LED bulbs for my 2011 CR-V? I believe its 9003/H4.

  25. I bought this set for my 2016, and moved it over when I upgraded to a 2017. FYI, all of the lights I bought worked just fine, except there is no rear cabin light for the liftgate, they now have two smaller one on each side. I haven't opened them to see what kind of bulbs they take. But the map, vanity, and dome light fixtures were identical to the 2016 and look great in the 2017. 🙂

  26. Hi i need help regarding DRL for HOnda CRV 2016. Please suggest what LED we need to replace for stranded lights

  27. Hello, I just purchased the 2017 CR-V, do you have any videos and this vehicle?

  28. Hi, so this model seems to have fog lights pre-installed, but what about models that don't have fog lights pre-installed? For example, the Honda 2016 CRV SE? Those have plastic place holders, would you be able to take out those place holders and install the fog lights like you just did in this video?

  29. What about the rubber gasket on the back of the stock bulb that keeps moisture out of the headlight fixture? It doesn't look like it'll fit over the fan. I have a 2012 crv.

  30. Do these headlight bulbs have better light output or do they just change color.

  32. The 2014 is a H4 dual filament bulb. Brought h11 and it doesn’t fit at all. Different base, different connector, fits thru a rubber grommet

  33. Do you need the projection headlight version on the CRV found on the Touring Edition to install these LEDS? Can the non-Projection lenses melt?

  34. Please do a LED High, Low and Fog-lights conversion for the 2017/2018 Honda CR-V… should get you the most views too.

  35. Thank you. I needed to replace a broken fog light and trim. This video was perfect!

  36. If you wanted to add LED high beams, where would you place the ballast? The low beam ballast seemed to take the only open spot.

  37. Can you show how to do the fog lights for Honda accord 2010 euro model? I'm thinking of getting some leds for the fog lights on that car.

  38. This is great. All I need to do now is find an Asian dude to do the install for me.

  39. Do you guys have a store in Los Angeles to stop by and check up your products ??

  40. Thx for the video. The only part I needed was how to disconnect the low beam light wire from the bulb. Simple, but needed to see it first.

  41. Thanks so much! This video made changing the fog light bulbs a quick and easy job

  42. Thank you for this video. You have such a great company with excellent customer support. I am a Precision LED customer. I just was to drop you a line thanking you for all you do for us even after the sale has been made.
