Iselle weakening as it passes Kauai County

FIRST LET’S CHECK IN WITH THE LATEST ON ISELLE. THAT’S RIGHT, PAULA, ISELLE RIGHT NOW WEAKENING IT’S AS WEAK AS MY VOICE RIGHT NOW. TROPICAL STORM WINDS BARELY AT 40 MILES PER HOUR. IT IS SITTING SOUTH OF CAWAYY AND CONTINUES TO TREK OUT ABOUT 140 MILES I SHOULD SAY SOUTH. IT WILL LIKELY DOWNGRADE TO A TROPICAL DEPRESSION TONIGHT SO SOME VERY GOOD NEWS. IT’S MOVING OUT PRETTY QUICKLY HERE OUT OF OUR AREA BY OUR OVERNIGHT HOURS. WE’RE STILL EXPECTING SOME SHOWERS AND OVERCAST SKIES TO STICK AROUND THROUGH THE NIGHT. SO THERE IS A FLASH FLOOD WATCH THAT IS IN EFFECT FOR THE STATE OVERNIGHT. YOU KNOW WE’VE ALSO BEEN SEEING THESE DOWNPOURS THAT BRENTON WAS TALKING ABOUT A LITTLE EARLIER THROUGH MAUI COUNTY COMING THROUGH NOT ONLY THAT SHOWER ACTIVITY BUT ALSO CARRYING SOME STRONG WIND GUSTS. AGAIN, NOT IN THE CLEAR MORE SERIOUS STUFF HAS MOVED OUT. BUT STILL ISELLE’S LEFTOVERS STILL WORKING THROUGH THE ISLAND WILL KEEP US PRETTY DAMP THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT. WE’VE ALSO BEEN WATCHING HURRICANE JULIO. THIS NEXT ONE BEHIND ISELLE. TONIGHT IT IS A CATEGORY TWO HURRICANE. IT WENT THROUGH SOME WEAKENING TODAY STILL 680 MILES EAST OF THE STATE. WE ARE NOT EXPECTING IT TO TAKE THE SAME PATH AS ISELLE. IN FACT, IT PUSHES WELL NORTH OF THE STATE. DOWN TO A CATEGORY ONE BY TOMORROW AFTERNOON 2:00 P.M. AND CONTINUING ON THAT NORTHERLY TREK MISSING THE ISLANDS. WE COULD STILL BE TALKING ABOUT SOME RAIN SUNDAY MAYBE EVEN INTO THE EARLY PART OF MONDAY AT MOST. BUT EVEN THAT, THAT JUST MIGHT MISS US BECAUSE THE TRACK IS SO FAR NORTH OF THE STATE. AGAIN OUR WEATHER TEAM IS KEEPING AN EYE ON. THIS TONIGHT WE’RE ALSO WATCHING THE SURF THREAT FOR ISELLE AS WELL. SURF ADVISORY IS POSTED UP FOR MOST EAST FACING SHORES ACROSS THE STATE. NOT ONLY THIS BUT JULIO’S ENERGY WILL ALSO START TO TELL RATE IS THOSE ALONG THE EAST SHORE. AGAIN THAT HIGH SURF ADVISORY WILL RUN THROUGH THE WEEK INTO EARLY MONDAY MORNING. WE WERE SHOWING YOU THAT VIDEO FROM EARLIER OUT OF POUNDERS BEACH. AGAIN THE REASON WHY NOT ONLY THE WAVES CRASHING UP ALONG THE SHORE BUT ROLLING SO HIGH UP ONTO THE THE SHORE AS WE’RE DEALING WITH WHAT WE CALL SPRING TIDES. THAT’S WHAT THOSE HIGH TIDES ARE EXTREMELY HIGH DURING THE AFTERNOON. COMING UP MANY OF OUR LOCAL HOT SHOTS HAVE BEEN COMING IN OF ALL OF THE DAMAGE ON THE BIG ISLAND ON MAUI AS WELL. TAKE A LOOK AT THIS ONE. STOP SIGN PRETTY MUCH BENT DOWN TO THE ROAD. THIS IS COMING IN OUT OF THE HILO SIDE. WE HAVE MUCH MORE OF YOUR LOCAL PICTURES THANKS SO MUCH FOR SENDING IT IN.
