Rain And Potential Flooding A Concern In Next Couple Of Days

UP, AND THE HURRICANE CHURNED TOWARDS THE ISLAND AND PEOPLE ARE BEING ASKED TO STAY OFF THE STREETS. AND WE ARE TRACKING THE TROPICS, AND IT’S LIKE A TROPICAL TRIFECTA ALMOST. WE HAVE IMELDA, HUMBERTO, AND JERRY CONTINUING TO MAKE ITS WAY TO THE NORTHEAST AS A CATEGORY 3 HURRICANE, JERRY IS A STRONG TROPICAL STORM, BUT IMELDA IS FOCUSED THROUGH PARTS OF HOUSTON, AND DEALING WITH THE FLOODING RAINS. RIGHT NOW NOT SEEING A LOT OF RAIN NEAR DOWNTOWN HOUSTON BUT WE’LL CONTINUE TO SEE THOSE SHOWERS WRAP THEIR WAY AROUND THE CENTER OF CIRCULATION WHICH HASN’T LOST A LOT OF STRENGTH. WINDS NEARLY 30-MILES-AN-HOUR, GUSTING UP HIGHER THAN THAT. FORWARD MOVEMENT VERY SLOW AT 3-MILES-AN-HOUR SO THAT’S ADDING TO THE FLOODING CONCERN. THAT CENTER IS 110 MILES NORTH-NORTHEAST OF HOUSTON. GOING IN TO TODAY WE DID SEE A COUPLE SHOWERS FROM IMELDA PASS THEIR WAY THROUGH NORTH TEXAS AND WE’RE GOING TO BE SEEING RAIN CHANCES INCREASE THE NEXT COUPLE DAYS. YOU SAW THAT ON THE SATELLITE AND RADAR AS WE WENT THROUGH THE 4:00, 5:00, 6:00 TIME PERIOD AND THEN INTO THE EVENING HOURS DYING OUT JUST A BIT. WHAT’S ALSO INTERESTING IS A LOT OF THE GULF MOISTURE’S BEING PULLED IN BUT THERE IS DRY AIR JUST OFF TO THE NORTHWEST SO YOU CAN’T SEE ANY MOISTURE BEING PULLED IN. FROM THE NORTHWEST WE HAVE THIS DRY WEDGE KIND OF HOLDING TOGETHER SO A LOT OF THE RAIN CONTINUES TO FALL IN ON THE SOUTH AND SOUTHEAST SIDES SO THAT’S WHERE WE SEE THE HIGHEST RAIN TOTALS BETWEEN 4 1/2 TO 5 1/2 INCHES OR MORE, EVEN HIGHER THAN THAT DOWN TOWARDS THE SOUTHWEST OF GALVESTON. WE’LL CONTINUE TO SEE THE FLOODING CONCERN MAINLY IN EAST AND SOUTHEAST TEXAS UNTIL 7:00 A.M. FRIDAY MORNING. THAT FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINING IN EFFECT. WHERE IS IMELDA GOING TO GO? AS WE GO THROUGH THEY REMAINDER OF TONIGHT AND TOMORROW, WILL GRADUALLY MOVE TO THE NORTHWEST AND PICK UP A LITTLE BIT OF SPEED TOMORROW NIGHT INTO FRIDAY AND AS IT WEAKENS AND PASSES OVERHEAD WE’RE GOING TO BE SEEING A MORE WIDESPREAD RAIN THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY AND RAIN CHANCES 50% FOR US. WE COULD SEE SOME STRONG, ISOLATED STORMS FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND WILL KEEP OUR EYE ON THAT THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY. WILL WE SEE SOME RAIN? NOT ALL OF US WILL SEE IT. THE HIGHEST RAIN CHANCES, WE MAY PICK UP .2 TO MAYBE .3 OF AN INCH OF RAIN AND WE NEED IT TO WASH OUT THE ATMOSPHERE, BECAUSE RAGWEED, IF YOU ARE SUFFERING
