“The Song About The Dnieper River” – Leonid Kharitonov & The Alexandrov Red Army choir

The “Song About the Dnieper River” The soloist is the Honored artist of Russia –
Leonid Kharitonov. In the coastal vines, on the high steep slopes We loved and grew. Oh, Dnieper, Dnieper, you are broad, powerful, The cranes are flying over you. Oh, Dnieper, Dnieper, you are broad, powerful, The cranes are flying over you. You saw the battle, Dnieper-Father River We went on the attack under the mountain. He who died for the Dnieper, will live forever Since he fought like a hero. He who died for the Dnieper, will live forever Since he fought like a hero. The enemy attacked us, we left the Dnieper. The deathly battle thundered like a storm. Oh, Dnieper, Dnieper, you are flowing far away, And your wave is like tears. Oh, Dnieper, Dnieper, you are flowing far away, And your wave is like tears. From your rapids the enemy drinks the water, And he choked with that water. The glorious day has come, we are going forward And we’ll see you Dnieper again. Let the blood of the fascists hounds flow like a river, The enemy will not take the Soviet land Like the spring Dnieper, all enemies will be swept away by our Army and our people! Like the spring Dnieper, all enemies will be swept away by our army and our people!

  8. Made my day. I got this one on my iPod. I sort of like The Sacred War, its a pretty good tune, like our Battle Hymn of the Republic. And I only know how to speak three or four russian words and the alphabet is driving me nuts. Been at it for four years now.

  9. No, I thank you for the performance. You can count one more admirer sir. I look forward to more of your art.

  10. Mr. Kharitonov, I don't know if that account is yours, but I want to say that your voice is AMAZING. I'm 22 years old, but I'm a huge fan of your work, especially in the song Эй, ухнем. Congratulations for being so amazing!

  11. Greetings from Perú, I can greet you in english, in spanish and of course

  16. That must have been a very sad time for him and all Russians in the year 1993.

  18. Mr. Kharitonov, I have no words to express my gratitude for your work. Over the years your voice will remain as the magnificent soloist you are and aa an icon of a generation. Thank you, thank you…

  25. Maestro Kharitonov has a magnificent voice, great musicianship, and dramatic intelligence. Did the Maestro ever perform in any operatic roles. Both Verdi, and the Russian repertoire would have been graced by his artistry.

  26. I am sure the musicians were playing with sadness in 1993…I have watched other videos from the choir in the 90s and there is a weird feeling between the musicians. Before that they sounded much happier and with a sense of prosperity!

  27. Mr Kharitonov: I didn't knew you. And I apologize. I can't believe the quality of your voice. It is astounding.
    Long life to Mother Russia!

  28. You can be VERY proud of your Father ! I love Russian Music and culture.
