Tsunami Advisory Issued For Central, Southern California Coast

GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE. IT’S THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 17. I’M MICHELLE GRIEGO. HI, EVERYONE. I’M FRANK MALLICOAT. IT IS 6:00. AND HERE’S A LIVE VIEW IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA WHERE A TSUNAMI ADVISORY IS UNDER WAY AT THIS HOUR. THIS IS THE SANTA MONICA PIER. YOU CAN SEE SOME BIG WAVES STARTING TO BUILD OUT THERE. A LITTLE BIT ANYWAY. THE ADVISORY IS FOR THE CALIFORNIA COASTLINE BETWEEN SAN LUIS OBISPO AND ORANGE COUNTY. THE TSUNAMI IS NOT EXPECTED SO RIGHT NOW IT’S JUST A PRECAUTION. IT COMES AFTER AN 8.3 QUAKE OFF THE COAST OF CHILE. IT HIT YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. AT LEAST 5 PEOPLE HAVE BEEN KILLED AND ANOTHER PERSON IS MISSING. ABOUT A MILLION PEOPLE WERE FORCED TO EVACUATE. AUTHORITIES ARE ASSESSING DAMAGE IN SEVERAL COASTAL TOWNS THAT SAW FLOODING FROM SMALL TSUNAMIS. IT CAUGHT PEOPLE IN THE AREA OFF GUARD. I LOOK AND THE WATER WAS ALREADY COMING, THIS MAN SAID.
