Valley Sees Flood Warnings As Atmospheric River Rolls Through

THANK YOU FOR JOINING US. I AM COURTNEY DEMPSEY. WE HAVE A FLOOD WARNING IN AREAS ALL THE WAY FROM CHICO TO STOCKTON AND YOU MAY SEE LOCALIZED FLOODING IN YOU ARE PAN AREA, SMALL STREAMS AND CREEKS. LOTS OF RAIN COMING DOWN TODAY AND WE HAVE METEOROLOGIST JORDAN SEGUNDO TRACKING IT ALL IN THE WEATHER CENTER. THAT IS RIGHT. HERE IS A LOOK AT THE SATELLITE. I PUSHED IT BACK THE PAST 12 HOURS. YOU CAN SEE THE RAIN HAS BEEN PRETTY STEADY ALL THE WAY THROUGH. WE HAVE SEEN POCKETS OF HEAVIER SHOWERS, ESPECIALLY TOWARD THE MORNING TIME. AREAS SEEING A BREAK IS TOWARD THE STOCKTON AND MODESTO AREA BUT STILL, LOTS OF CLOUD COVER OUT THERE AND POCKETS OF HEAVIER RAIN THERE SOUTH OF SACRAMENTO HERE. AS WE MOVE UP TO THE VALLEY YOU CAN SEE LIGHTER SHOWERS ALL INDICATED BY GREENS, BUT, AGAIN, MODERATE RAIN WILL START TO COME THROUGH. WE HAVE A FLOOD WARNING, ACTUALLY, IN EFFECT FOR THE AREA HERE UNTIL 8:00 TONIGHT. WE HAVE BEEN SEEING A HALF INCH TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN. ALL OF THAT IS ACCUMULATING, ALLOWING FOR FLOODING TO HAPPEN ON THE ROADWAYS. BE CAREFUL IF YOU ARE OUT THERE ON THE ROADWAYS WITH ALL THE PONDING. AS FAR AS SNOW, WE SAW SNOW LEVELS AT 4,500 FEET BUT THE SNOW LEVELS HAVE STARTED TO DRIFT OFF AND RISE. TOWARD TRUCKEE ALSO SEEING RAIN, AS WELL. STILL, THOUGH, IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS PICKING UP SOME HEAVY SNOW. WE ARE PROBABLY SEEING THREE TO FIVE FEET OF SNOW COMING IN. RIGHT NOW THE SNOW LEVEL IS PAST THE YUBA PASS AND THE BLUE CANYON HAD SNOW THIS MORNING BUT IT IS NOW TURNING TO RAIN. WE ARE ALSO PICKING UP VERY STRONG GUSTY WINDS TOWARD STOCKTON. 31 MILES PER HOUR SUSTAINED WINDS. GUSTS POSSIBLY UP TO 50 IN AREAS SO A HIGH WIND ADVISORY IS IN PLACE. WE WILL SEE THIS THROUGH THURSDAY. MORE RAIN STILL ON HAND FOR US TONIGHT INTO THURSDAY, AS
