Video: Flash flood threat Friday (6-23-17)

ANNOUNCER: NOW FIRST ALERT WEATHER WITH METEOROLOGIST TYLER JANKOSKI. TYLE GOOD AFTERNOON. A LOT OF CLOUDS OVER THE CHAMPLAIN VALLEY AND THE TEMPERATURE HAS HIT 80 DEGREES AS OF THE NOON HOUR. IT IS CERTAINLY A HUMID DAY. A LOOK OF THE DEW POINT, 69. 70 IS USUALLY THE THRESHOLD FOR OPPRESSIVE HUMIDITY TREAT WE ARE PLANNING ON MORE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TO THE REST OF THE DAY. I DON’T THINK WE COMPLETELY DRY OUT UNTIL TOMORROW MORNING. THIS IS WHAT STORM TRACKER LOOKS LIKE OVER THE PAST FEW HOURS WITH SATELLITE AND THE RADIO — AND THE RADAR. ESPECIALLY SOUTHERN VERMONT, SOUTHERN END OF LAKE CHAMPLAIN AS WELL. MOST OF THE RAIN HAS BEEN ALONG THE INTERNATIONAL BORDER INTO THE SEAWAY VALLEY. IT IS ON AN APPROACH TOWARDS US BECAUSE A COLD FRONT IS CURRENTLY DRAPED THROUGH DETROIT . OUT AHEAD OF THE SUN IT IS PLENTY WARM AND HUMID. CERTAINLY WARM AND HUMID ENOUGH FOR THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY. WE HAVE BEEN LIMITED IN TERMS OF SUNSHINE. EVEN SO, AS WE LOOK AT FUTURECAST BY 4:00 P.M., THERE IS A LOT MORE NUMEROUS SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY. SOME OF THESE STORMS COULD BE ON THE STRONGER SIDE, BUT I THINK THE GREATER THREAT THIS AFTERNOON WOULD BE FLASH FLOODING. WE HAVE A FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR A GOOD PORTION OF THE AREA BECAUSE WITH THAT RAIN, SOME SPOTS PICKED UP AN INCH. WE COULD ADD T THAT IN A BIG WAY BY LATER ON. I 11:00 WE ARE STILL DEALING WITH ACTIVITY. WE DO NOT COMPLETELY END SHOWERS UNTIL TOMORROW MORNING. IT IS WARMEST IN THE SOUTH. 82 IN BENNINGTON, BUT STILL 70 IN ST. JOHNSBURY AND 71 IN PLATTSBURGH. 80 IN BURLINGTON. HUMIDITY IS OUT THERE AND THE DEW POINT IS FLIRTING WITH 70 DEGREES. THAT IS OPPRESSIVE HUMIDITY. WE ARE LOOKING AT A HIGH OF 84 WITH STORMS CONTINUING AND THE FLASH FLOOD THREAT THAT WE WILL BE MONITORING. IT IS GOING TO BE WINDY OUT OF THE SOUTH AND WEST AND HIGHS WILL GENERALLY BE A LITTLE BIT WARMER THAN IT IS NOW, ESPECIALLY WITH A FEW MORE BREAKS OF SUNSHINE THIS AFTERNOON. WATCH WHAT HAPPENS AS WE GO INTO THIS WEEKEND. HUMID FOR THE REST OF THE DAY, BUT WATCH THE BLUE COLOR. THE REFRESHING COL JUST SEEPS IN TOMORROW. WE START THE WEEKEND WITH MUCH LESS HUMIDITY AND REALLY, I THINK THIS IS THE CASE FOR THE FIRST VEHICLE FUTURE. TOMORROW IS MOSTLY DRY, BUT YOU SEE HERE ON FUTURECAST 2:00 P.M., IT’S POSSIBLE THIS IS A SPOT SHOWER. I WOULD SAY THE ADIRONDACKS HAVE THE BEST CHANCE. SUNDAY IS ANOTHER NICE DAY. WE START DRY, BUT IN THE AFTERNOON THERE COULD BE A POP-UP THUNDERSTORM WITH THE HEATING OF THE DAY. IT IS NOT LIKE TODAY WITH THE ALL DAY TYPE SHOWER AND STORM ACTIVITY. WE GO FROM OPPRESSIVE HUMIDITY TODAY, A LITTLE BIT OF HUMIDITY LEFT EARLY, BUT IT TURNS OUT NICE. SUNDAY THROUGH TUESDAY, THE FIRST SEAL WILL FUTURE, WE HAVE REFRESHING CONDITIONS. THIS IS THE FIVE-DAY FORECAST GOING FORWARD. WE HAVE THE HUMIDITY AND THAT STORMY FORECAST. MOSTLY DRY TOMORROW, WE WILL SEE A SPOT SHOWER. 75 ON SUNDAY AND THEN IT IS A SHOWERY PATTERN EARLY NEXT WEEK MONDAY AND TUESDAY COULD HAVE A SHOWER OR STORM EAC AFTERNOON. IT WILL BE A WASHOUT, THAT IS THE GOOD NEWS. BY WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY, HOPEFULLY WE GET INTO BIT OF A
