Video: Flash flooding reported in portions of Baltimore County


HOME WAS A DANGEROUS CONDITION ON THE ROAD. THERE IS QUITE A BIT OF STANDING WATER FROM A FLASH FLOOD THAT OCCURRED HERE. THERE ARE SEVERAL SECTIONS O GWEN BRETT THAT ARE SEVERELY COVERED.>>IT WAS BREAKING NEWS AT 5:00 PM, AS SKYTEAM 11 REVEALED HOW GWYNNBROOK ROAD IN OWING MILLS SEEMED TO BE MORE BROOK AND LESS ROAD. AT A NEARBY BUSINESS, SOME BOATS WERE DRYDOCKED NO MORE, CREATING A MESS IN MINUTES. THE WATER HAS COME DOWN AT LEAST A FOOT ALREADY. DEBORAH: AT THIS SUNOCO STATION, A DRIVER FOUND HIMSELF STUCK IN THE FLASH FLOOD THAT PRODUCED HAIL. IT WAS PRETTY DEEP ON THE VAN AND CAME UP A LITTLE ABOVE THE DOOR. TWO AND A HALF FEET MAYBE. PEOPLE WERE DRIVING THROUGH A?>>YES. DEBORAH: KEITH GOINS SAYS THE AREA SEES FLOODING LIKE THIS ABOUT ONCE A YEAR, BUT THIS WAS THE WORST HE HAS EVER WITNESSED.>>IT WAS EVERY BIT OF TWO FEET OF WATER. DEBORAH: WHEN THE WATER RECEDED, CARS WERE COVERED WITH DEBRIS. TREE BRANCHES HUGGED GUARDRAILS. AND SOME STREETS WERE BLOCKED BY VEHICLES WHERE DRIVERS APPEARED TO HAVE GIVEN IN TO MOTHER NATURE ON THE HARROWING MONDAY AFTERNOON DRIVE HOME QUITE A MESS THERE. THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAYS IT IS NEVER SAFE TO DRIVE OR EVEN WALK IN FLOOD WATERS. OVER HALF OF ALL FLOOD RELATED DROWINGS OCCUR WHEN A VEHICLE IS DRIVEN INTO HAZARDOUS FLOOD WATERS.
