Washington area hit with torrential rain, causing flash flooding across city

heavy rain caused white flash flooding
across the Washington DC metro area on Monday prompting the National Weather
Service to issue a flash flood emergency the city was hit with more than seven
and a half centimeters of rain in just two hours flooding roads and
neighborhoods some people were stranded in cars and several high water rescues
were reported flooding even reached the White House basement and government
employees had to drain the standing water with wet vacuums
